Issue:

Dear members,
We are in a historic era. Japan now has its first female prime minister and Masayuki Watanabe, an FCCJ director, last month became the Club’s secretary. In his first term on the Board, Watanabe-san provided a wealth of support to the Club, and taking on this new role is just another example of his broad service and dedication to our organization. We greatly appreciate his efforts and those of all our volunteer directors, kanji, and committee chairs.
With the resignation of Kathleen Benoza from the Board, we had an open position for a regular Board member, and decided by majority to nominate Khaldon Azhari to fill the vacancy. This will be presented for a vote at the next Extraordinary General Membership Meeting (EGMM), likely to be held in January. We will also present other key matters for the membership to consider. Meanwhile, our regular March GMM will include the presentation of our next budget proposal.
In October we continued to make progress in our fundraising campaign, which is intended to ensure the financial stability of our organization. We will have more details to share soon, but we encourage you to take an interest and support of our efforts to make the FCCJ stronger. If you or your organization would like to support this campaign, please contact General Manager Wayne Hunter for more information.
We are closing in on our 80th anniversary night on November 27, and I hope you have already made reservations. With incredible food, drink, and entertainment, as well as a number of VIP guests, it will be a historic evening to remember. See you there.
Dan Sloan
FCCJ President
