Dear members,
On behalf of everyone at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan, I would like to wish you and your families a very happy new year. We had a historic anniversary last year, and I hope that 2026 will bring even more prosperity and greater FCCJ experiences. Stay tuned for more, including a long-form A+E video on the Club’s 80th.
I will keep this missive short as the holiday season really is about enjoying rest and relaxation. However, I would kindly ask you to reserve the evening of January 27, when we will hold an Extraordinary General Membership Meeting and vote on financial measures essential to the club’s finances. Regular members will soon receive ballots on the proposals, while all members are again welcome to attend the meeting. Please indicate to the FCCJ front desk if you will join in person so that proper dining arrangements can be made. The meeting will also be streamed on Zoom.
Finally, our Professional Activities Committee is already preparing for a busy January, with planned appearances by Middle East diplomats and Japanese political leaders, as well as experts on frayed Sino-Japanese ties and a host of other topics.
